advanced structural and pipework analysis

FS-TubeJoint is a program module which interfaces with FS2000 to provide tubular joint design checks in accordance with the following design codes:

CHS Chord & Braces

API RP2A "Recommended Practice for Planning, Designing and Constructing Fixed Offshore Structures, 21st Edition (2005 Supp)
BS EN ISO 19902:2007 and Petroleum and natural gas industries - Fixed steel offshore structures
API RP2A "Recommended Practice for Planning, Designing and Constructing Fixed Offshore Structures", LFRD (1989)
Department of Energy: Offshore Installations "Guidance on design, construction and certification" 4th Edition 1990.

Comprehensive Joint Recognition Jacket Face
The program undertakes a comprehensive joint assessment that automatically evaluates all joint design parameters.
  • Automatic Joint Recognition - Automatic recognition of Chord and Brace members
  • Geometric Classification - Automatic Joint Classification (T/Y, K, X etc). Gap and overlap evaluation for K joints
  • Force Balance Joint Classification - Optional Auto Joint Classification. Partial Joint classification by brace load distribution in joint. e.g. joint could be classified as 70% KT 30% X
  • User Defined Re-Classification - All program evaluated parameters may be re-defined using user defined classifications and parameters
  • Local Strengthening Definition - Chord Can Wall Thickness & Diameter and Brace Stub Wall Thickness & Diameter
  • Define Local Strengthening - Graphically or by Text entry
Three Basic Modes of Operation
  • Summary Check - Summarises results by maximum Unity Ratio
  • Stress Check - Shows actual and allowable load components
  • Interactive Mode - Joint Re-design
Selective Output
  • Graphical - Unity Ratio Plots Selective plots - Individual & Multiple Results
  • Sorted Summary - By Label Range or Criticality Rating
  • Restricted Output - Limit Output to Defined Criticality Limit (UR threshold)
  • Actual/Allowable - Actual/Allowable for all component element loads

Output may be by joint (node) label, node grouping or by loading criticality. Selective colour plots enable critical joints to be easily identified or grouped for output
